Fifty-four years after the unexpected demise of one of rock’s greatest guitarists, Jimi Hendrix, pieces of his intimate musical archive have surfaced and will be auctioned off–providing fans of the venerable player with the opportunity to procure a piece of the past. Fans and collectors of rock history will have the exclusive opportunity to take home never-before-released songs, long-forgotten demos, rare B-sides, and more.
Despite the arrival of posthumous releases ranging from live albums to singles, bootlegs, and more, the artist, who passed away at the tender age of 27, experienced a fully-fledged wave of creativity, beckoning to the continued unveiling of new pieces from his past. Included are previously unreleased demos from 1968, including “Up From the Skies,” “Ain’t No Telling,” “Little Miss Lover” and “Stone Free.” According to initial reports from Far Out, it is estimated that the batch above, which totals only seven minutes of music, will fetch an estimated £200,000 at the auction.
The collection is currently owned by Patrica “Trixie” Sullivan, the personal assistant to Hendrix’s manager, Mike Jeffery, during a pinnacle and high-caliper chapter of his career. For the past 51 years, Sullivan has had the treasured items since Jeffery’s death; debt collectors seized all items deemed of value, including 50 rare tapes from Hendrix, The Animals, and Mike Jeffery.
Additional items headed to auction include Hendrix’s eviction notice from Ringo Starr’s flat, which resulted after complaints from neighbors, as well as separate listings such as payslips for the Hendrix Experience, dry cleaning bills, and more miscellaneous items once owned by the Voodoo Child.
The auction is scheduled for November 15 via Propstore and will be livestreamed.
