June 7, 2013

On July 16th Blue Note will release the latest studio album from Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Lickety Split_, which is available for pre-orderdp features the group’s current lineup with Robert joined by Marcus Randolph, Danyel Morgan, Lenesha Randolph and Brett Haas. Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin) engineered the album, which also includes guest appearances from Trombone Shorty and Carlos Santana.

Today we are premiering “Born Again” from the forthcoming release. Here’s is what Robert Randolph has to say about the tune: “We started writing Born Again as a love song. It was about that feeling you get when you meet a great woman an you just feel born again. My buddy had just gotten out of a relationship and he was talking about how he was going to find a new woman and have that feeling again. So that was the idea but even though it started out that way, once we were writing and jamming the result turned out to be something much more uplifting…almost spiritual”
