On Wednesday, July 10, Portugal. The Man performed its classic album, The Satanic Satanist, in full during their stand at the esteemed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. Prior to the emergence of the 2009 released psychedelic pop entry, the ensemble, helmed by lead singer John Gourley, welcomed the SNACKTIME horn section on select numbers–a trend that also continued after the album delivery, in what could be considered a third set.

To start the night, the billed headliners sparked up “Heart of the Sunrise / Heavy Games II / Bellies Are Full,” continuing with other seasoned plays, and a pair borrowed numbers from the SNACKTIMEarchive, including “Together” and “High Life.” The latter represented the final song in the amalgamated group’s initial 12-song set before turning to the complete and welcomed LP run-through, highlighted by a live debut off the set.

Following its initial presentation, PTM performed The Satanic Satanist album opener, “People Say,” and “Work All Day.” A former rarity, “Lovers in Love” resurfaced during live shows earlier this year and was featured as the third pull during the band’s Colorado stand. Representing the album’s midsection, the group added “The Sun,” “The Home,” “The Woods” prior to “Guns & Dogs,” “Do You,” and “Everyone is Golden.”

A first-time live performance of “Let You Down” served as the second-to-last piece of the LP delivery, ahead of closer “Mornings.” Emerging on the other side of The Satanic Satanist, Portugal. The Man made the final portion of the night a collaborative affair, welcoming assistance from Quinn Christopherson, Electric Guest and SNACKTIME–once again.
