After over four decades on the fore of rock, the Pixies are keeping just as busy as ever in 2024. Following their second summer tour with Modest Mouse and Cat Power, which crossed North America through June, a sprawling European Tour and supporting dates for Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter World Tour in Australia and New Zealand, the legendary alternative outfit will return on Oct. 25 with The Night the Zombies Came, their 10th studio album. Just a week out from this highly-anticipated release, the band has announced a pair of celebratory shows at intimate venues in New York and Boston.

Next Wednesday, Oct. 23, the Pixies will return to the stage for a show at the Bowery Ballroom, New York’s close-quarters indie haven, to introduce fans to the new material. On the following evening, Oct. 24, the band will truck up to Boston for a proper homecoming at Cambridge’s The Sinclair. Tickets for both shows will become available tomorrow, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. ET. The Night the Zombies Came follows 2022’s Doggerel and initiates yet another new lineup for the group, now ending the 10-year tenure of bassist and backing vocalist Paz Lenchantin to welcome Band of Skulls’ Emma Richardson; Richardson has been on the road with the band since March and fills a seat formerly held by Kim Deal, who departed from the band to focus on her legendary side outfit the Breeders in 2013.
