Phish have confirmed the details for the next two installments in their LP on LP vinyl series, both of which are slated for release on November 20.
LP on LP 07: 11/28/94 “Tweezer” Vinyl [Step Into The Freezer Pressing] will document a standout version of the classic Phish jam vehicle from the group’s 1990s prime. A note on the release explains, “The seventh volume in the LP on LP vinyl series highlights “Tweezer” from Phish’s only show at the 8,500 capacity Field House on the Montana State campus in Bozeman. This 44-minute Tweezer is well known, thanks to the inclusion of a snippet from the prodigious jam dubbed “Montana” on the 1995 live album, A Live One. Filling both sides of a vinyl LP, the Bozeman “Tweezer marked an inflection point in long-form experimentation, taking the Montana crowd on a multifaceted journey through this improvisational masterwork.”
Likewise, LP on LP 08: 9/14/99 “Ac/Dc Bag” > “Gumbo” Vinyl [Made Of Money Pressing] will focus on a pair of exploratory tracks from another important period in the band’s ‘90s rise. As the band notes, “The eighth volume in the LP on LP vinyl series highlighting “AC/DC Bag” > “Gumbo” from Phish’s second show at the 13,000 capacity BSU Pavilion. Boise fell in the opening week of summer ‘99 tour, between Portland, OR and Mountain View, CA, placing it far apart from the rest of the tour and squarely out of the way for everyone except locals and the most intrepid travelers. The result was a snooze-you-lose show that produced what is still the longest and most exploratory “AC/DC Bag” to date on side A, linked via an interstellar vacuum and effect-laden space jam to a standout “Gumbo” on side B.”
Phish will kick off their fall tour at Atlantic City, NJ’s Boardwalk Hall this evening.
