Philadelphia Flyers to Host Inaugural Phish Night

On Thursday, Jan. 8, the Philadelphia Flyers will host the inaugural “Phish Night at the Flyers,” when the City of Brotherly Love’s home team hits the ice and faces off against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The post-New Year’s occasion, which will happen just a week out from Phish’s final appearance during the annual Madison Square Garden run, features a pre-game concert from Rift, Philly’s premiere Phish tribute band, as well as limited edition collaborative apparel to mark the momentous event for fans of hockey and this specific brand of music.

“The Philadelphia Flyers and Phish both have tremendously loyal and passionate fan bases that have intersected over the past several decades with historic live shows at the arenas we’ve called home,” said Flyers Chief Revenue and Business Officer Todd Glickman. “From the Flyers faithful to the Phish fans, I cannot wait to see everyone come together under one roof at Xfinity Mobile Arena to ‘surrender to the flow’ on January 8.”

The imminent gathering harkens to Phish and the Flyers’ rich history, which extends back to December 15, 1995, nearly 30 years ago, when the band visited the team’s training center and met members of the Flyers before their own concert at the hockey team’s former Spectrum facility. That night, Trey Anastasio donned John LeClair’s No. 10 jersey to the thrill of those in attendance.

The band also released two historic Spectrum performances, captured and delivered for fans on the enduring live set, The Spectrum ‘97, which dispenses two standout performances from the group’s fall run, spanning a 33-song presentation. In addition to their Spectrum history, the band also has ties to the hockey team’s current Xfinity Mobile Arena home, having delivered the National Anthem before Flyers games in ‘97 and ‘99, as well as performed back-to-back concerts over 2009’s Thanksgiving weekend.

Every ticket purchased through this page link includes a commemorative Flyers X Phish t-shirt, as well as access to the pre-game performance from Rift.

A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sale will benefit the Waterwheel Foundation.
