Savoy Bookshop will present a conversation with veteran concert promoter and author Peter Shapiro as he discusses his new book, The Music Never Stops: What Putting on 10,000 Shows Has Taught Me About Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Magic, alongside his co-author, Relix editor-in-chief Dean Budnick. The event will take place on Sept. 16 at the United Theatre in Westerly, R.I.

The upcoming author talk featuring Shapiro and Budnick will be moderated by Michael McDonald, co-founder of ATO Records and Mick Management, whose impressive client list includes My Morning Jacket, Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, Ray LaMontagne and Sharon Van Etten. During the discussion, Shapiro will dig into his debut book, which gives readers an inside look at his unparalleled life experiences, from operating Tribecca’s fabled Wetlands Preserve to reopening the legendary Capitol Theatre and, inevitably, establishing a legacy with the various Brooklyn Bowl venues.

The Music Never Stops utilizes the lens of Shapiro’s 50 most iconic shows, which has earned him the title of “the most notable independent concert promoter since Bill Graham,” a sentiment shared in Variety. Moreover, the book also touches on Shapiro’s time producing the acclaimed music documentary, U2 3D, promoting the iconic Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary “Fare Thee Well” tour and more.  He will also recount stories about his experience working in the music industry, with celebrated artists like the Grateful Dead, U2, Bob Dylan, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, Al Green, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Leonard Cohen and many others.
