Nick Cassarino Will Debut New Trio Tonight

This evening at Soho Live in Manhattan, Nick Cassarino will debut a new project. The guitar player and vocalist will premiere some music with his Nick Cassarino Trio. The group also features his brother Josh Cassarino on drums along with bassist Sen Raines.

Cassarino currently is a member of the Nth Power as well as a longtime collaborator with Jen Hartswick. As Hartswick told Relix in conjunction with the release of her Something in the Water album, ““I met Nick in South Burlington, Vt., when he was 14. I was judging a high school battle of the bands. He was a freshman in high school and his band was the best by far. He was already writing original music at that point in his life. As soon as he graduated, I started taking him on the road. He is not only an absurd guitar player, but he’s a professional uplifter and an incredible person.”

At the Soho Live gig, Cassarino will present some tunes that he is working on in anticipation of a solo record that will be released later this year. The material is said to reflect “a fresh, groove-driven sound rooted in Cassarino’s signature blend of soul, funk, and rock influences.” The evening will feature two other Brooklyn-based artists: Sauce City and Nick Prato, with tickets available here.
