Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts Plan Free Concert in Ukraine Ahead of Love Earth European Tour Leg

Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts will open the European leg of their forthcoming Love Earth tour by putting on a free concert in Ukraine. The globally renowned guitarist and activist shared his intent via the neilyoungarchives.com on Sunday, March 2, to perform for the Ukrainian people following Friday’s heated exchange between US political leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The post addressing the proposed appearance read, “Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts will open the upcoming Love Earth Tour of Europe in UKRAINE with a Free Concert for all! We are currently in talks and will make the announcement of details here at NYA. Keep on Rockin’ in the FREE WORLD.”
For the concert to take place ahead of Young and The Chrome Hearts’ already-announced European tour dates, the show would likely occur in mid-June, prior to the group’s opener, June 18 at Dalhalla in Rättvik, Sweden. The European leg currently consists of nine total stops, culminating in a close after their July 8 appearance at Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart, Germany.
Following the European leg of the Love Earth tour, the band, featuring Young, guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony Logerfo and organist Spooner Oldham, will return to the States for a 15-stop jaunt, from August through mid-September.
Young’s tour was confirmed after his late-February promise, “Today’s news is that we are all getting over saturated. Politics and our way of life are under attack from within our own country. We must react. We must show who we are.”
He continued, “This is what the Spring and Summer of Democracy is all about. When we hit the road, news of abandoned ideals and changing values will be in the crowd. The music will reflect the feelings of the times. We will be there for you.”
