This fall, My Morning Jacket will look back on one of their most iconic recordings with a series of performances celebrating the 20th anniversary of Z. Since its arrival in 2005, My Morning Jacket’s fourth studio album has been hailed as a landmark masterpiece of modern roots rock and one of the most influential rock albums of the 2000s. Its release allowed the band to find its chemistry with fresh members guitarist Carl Broemel and keyboardist Bo Koster and propelled the quintet to new heights of critical recognition and artistic daring. The group will honor this legacy with five previously announced shows, now featuring performances of the project in its entirety.

“October 4 is the 20th anniversary of our album Z. It’s pretty wild to think about that,” frontman Jim James said. “To celebrate 2 decades of it being out in the ether, we’re excited to be turning 5 of our shows into special Z anniversary shows, where we’ll play that album (and some other songs, don’t worry) front to back.”

My Morning Jacket will bring all ten of the tracks from Z, including enduring setlist staples and fan favorites like “Wordless Chorus,” “It Beats 4 U,” “Dondante” and “Off the Record,” to the stage first at Morrison, Colo.’s hallowed Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Aug. 15. Subsequent stagings will take place at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium on Aug. 19, Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Brooklyn Paramount on Oct. 16, Chicago’s Salt Shed on Oct. 26 and Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Nov. 1. These shows fall within the band’s ongoing is Tour, which will celebrate the release of their new 10th studio album with 27 shows from Aug. 5 to Nov. 1.
