“My Cymbals Were Melting”: Bill Kreutzmann Joins Carrie Fisher, Ad-Rock and Nick Offerman in ‘Have A Good Trip’ Which Debuts Today

The new documentary, Have A Good Trip: Adventures In Psychedelics premieres today on Netflix. The film pulls together “comedic tripping stories from A-list actors, comedians, and musicians,” including Bill Kreutzmann, Carrie Fisher, Jim James, Adam Scott, Sting, Anthony Bourdain, Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Ad-Rock, Rosie Perez, A$AP Rocky, Reggie Watts, Shepard Fairey and many more.  Have A Good Trip was written and directed by Donick Cary and produced by Mike Rosenstein, Sunset Rose Pictures, and Sugarshack 2000. Cary is an Emmy-winning writer and producer who has written for The SimpsonsSilicon Valley, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, A.P. Bio and other shows.

Today we are sharing an exclusive clip from the film, in which Bill Kreutzmann recalls a moment on stage with the Grateful Dead in which the dosed drummer became overwhelmed and needed to step away from the action to gather himself. Cary, who grew up on Nantucket returned to a familiar setting to interview Kreutzmann, as Boston’s Fenway Park can be seen in the background (producer Mike Rosenstein also is a New England native). Cary recalls interviewing the Grateful Dead drummer: “It was in between soundcheck and the show and we pulled him into a room at Fenway. He was able to speak not only to his own experiences but what he’s witnessed over the years and he’s certainly seen plenty. He’s just a funny, great storyteller with a sparkle in his eye.”

Cary will participate in a special viewing party in conjunction with the Nantucket Film Festival, which will take place at 8 PM ET. Cary will introduce the film and then following the screening, a number of special guests who appear in the documentary, will join in for a Q & A. Click here to register for the NFF viewing party.
