moe. Welcomes Guests, Covers Traffic, the Allman Brothers and the Dead at the Ardmore
On Saturday night, moe. closed out their four show run at the Ardmore Music Hall. The group welcomed guest musicians to the stage for the final two nights at the Pennsylvania venue. In addition, the band revisited a rarely performed original tune.
moe. set the tone on Friday by opening with a 21-minute version of fan-favorite “Meat.” The group later echoed this approach by beginning the second set with a take on “Rebubula” that nearly reached the 23-minute mark. The first frame also proved notable as it included four songs that were last performed as encores: “Wind It Up,” “Gone,” “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” and “Downward Facing Dog.” The band’s extended cover of Traffic’s “Low Spark” also featured Yolk’s Jeff Pettit on saxophone. The second set offered strong takes on a couple tunes that appear on moe.’s latest album, 2025’ Circle of Giants—“Band in the Sky” and “Giants”—as well as an “Cathedral” encore, marking the first time since 10/15/21 that the band performed the selection from 2008’s Sticks and Stones.
The final night began with a segued sequence from “Not Coming Down” into “Wormwood” into “Plane Crash.” Then, following “Yellow Tigers” and “Haze,” area resident Tom Hamilton emerged for the final two songs of the set, appearing on guitar for moe.’s own “Mexico” followed by a version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” which also featured Jeff Mann from Consider The Source on percussion. The group later returned with another memorable stretch, beginning with “Spine of a Dog,” which led into “Four,” followed by a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “The Other One” and then back into “Four.” The six-piece eventually closed the set with a tandem of favorites from the band’s early days, moving from “Time Ed” into “Seat of My Pants.”
moe.’s Born To Fly tour resumes on Friday night at the Lincoln Theater in Washington, DC.
