In 2025, Wavy Gravy’s Camp Winnarainbow celebrates its 50th anniversary. Since 1975, the Mendocino County, Calif. camp founded by the entertainer, activist, Woodstock presenter and countercultural icon has served as a haven for kids of all backgrounds to learn love for circus arts, theater and the outdoors. To mark its golden anniversary, the cherished community space has launched an expansive fundraising auction, and the artists nd music insiders who have offered their assistance are a testament to the value of its mission.
Camp Winnarainbow’s anniversary auction comprises a staggering total of 72 items. Likely the most enticing is a drum from the personal collection of legendary Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart, who signed his instrument with his name and Camp Winnarainbow’s motto: “Toward the Fun!” Storied country hero and activist Steve Earle is offering both a pair of tickets to a meet and greet and performance and a Zoom songwriting masterclass. Blues Traveler’s John Popper has also contributed a Zoom session, which winners can use as a songwriting or harmonica course or just a virtual hangout.
Other gems within the lot include vintage Grateful Dead backstage passes, Bill Graham’s annotated script for The Doors, meet and greets with Hot Tuna and Leftover Salmon and a set of 18 guitar picks personalized for the members of the Rolling Stones, including the late Charlie Watts. Fans can also score coveted tickets to shows from Billy Strings, Elvis Costello, Jack White and more.
The Camp Winnarainbow 50th anniversary auction is open now, and will come to a close on April 30 at 7 p.m. Learn more and place you bids here.
