Tedeschi Trucks Band are back out on the road for a stretch of dates that will extend into early September. Joining them for many of these gigs will be Lukas Nelson. Last night they appeared at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery Amphitheatre in Woodinville, WA for the second of two shows at the venue
Midway through TTB’s set, Nelson emerged for a pair of tunes. He first appeared on “Little By Little,” which was one of Junior Wells’ signature songs. He then remained on stage for a version of Neil Young’s “Helpless.” This was the first time the band had performed the song since 3/24/22. Nelson, of course, backed Young for many years both in the studio and on the road, while performing with Promise of the Real. On Saturday, Nelson had appeared on Derek and the Dominos’ “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?” and an epic take on Joe Tex’s “Show Me.”
Wednesday’s show featured many other standout moments from the 12-piece. TTB delivered crowd-pleasing takes on originals “Don’t Let Me Slide,” “Bound for Glory” and “Made Up Mind.” The group also delivered an animated pairing of Sly & The Family Stone’s “You Can Make It If You Try” and “Everyday People.” Another notable stretch was the run from the Rolling Stones’ “Loving Cup” into Sleepy John Estes’ “Leavin’ Trunk” and then Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “ “Volunteered Slavery.”
