Lucy Dacus, Infinity Song and Emmy-nominated and Peabody-winning writer, director and comedian Julio Torres will come together for WhyHunger’s annual Amplified Hungerthon Concert. The event will take place at New York’s Webster Hall on December 1. Adding to the festivities, fans will have a chance to request a song to influence headliner Dacus’ setlist by donating to WhyHunger.
“As the climate changes and companies continue to prioritize profit over people, systems that ensure food sovereignty are extremely important,” Dacus said in a statement. “I’m thankful for WhyHunger’s work towards this goal and happy they asked me to play.”
Founded in 1975 by Harry Chapin and Bill Ayres, WhyHunger has connected 6.6 million people to food and invested $9.6 million in community-led solutions globally in the last five years.
Dacus was recently in New York, where she took part in a series of mini boygenius reunions at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. On Thursday, September 24, Dacus and Julien Baker emerged during Phoebe Bridgers’ phones-free headlining show for the boygenius tracks “Not Strong Enough” and “Cool About It.” Then, the next night, Bridgers brought her boygenius bandmates back for her second show at the Brooklyn arena for another take on “Not Strong Enough” as well as “Souvenir.” The trio musicians regrouped at the venue on Saturday as well for “Not Strong Enough” and “Powers.”
boygenius have officially been on hiatus since concluding a tour in early 2024. Speaking of guests, Bridgers also invited out Alex G in his Philadelphia hometown for his own “Bobby” while performing at the Xfinity Mobile Arena on September 28.
