Listen: Tame Impala Share Reimagining of Elvis Presley’s “Edge of Reality” In Celebration of ‘Elvis’ Release

Today, Tame Impala have released a psychedelic remix of Elvis Presley’s 1970 song “Edge of Reality,” lush with contemporary production and vocals from the Australian group’s frontman and leader Kevin Parker. The track appears on the soundtrack of the new film Elvis, which was directed by Baz Luhrmann and is in theaters now.

The Elvis (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) has several contributions from chart-topping artists across musical sectors; Tame Impala’s contribution follows the release of Doja Cat’s take on “Vegas,” Kacey Musgraves’ version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and a cover of “The King and I” by Eminem and CeeLo Green. The soundtrack also tapped Jack White, Stevie Nicks, Chris Isaak, Yola, Swae Lee and Diplo along with the star of the film, Austin Butler.

Butler previously appeared in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood as Manson Family member, Tex Watson. Elvis also stars Tom Hanks who plays Elvis’ infamous manager Colonel Tom Parker. The two are joined by Richard Roxburgh, Luke Bracey, Olivia DeJonge, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
