Listen: Arc Iris Preview New Album with Single “We All Deserve to be Beautiful (Feat. Willow)”
Los Angeles-based ensemble Arc Iris has shared a new single from their forthcoming sixth album, iTMRW, pronounced “i-tomorrow.” The impending collection was initially conceived as a 90-minute live multimedia science fiction production, set in 2080, and features video art and contemporary dance elements. As a preview, they shared their new single, “We All Deserve to be Beautiful” featuring WILLOW.
“We All Deserve to be Beautiful” leans into a realm of meditation by underscoring the song’s title lyrically, which presents itself as a source of confidence for the listener. Instrumentally, the track trails pulses of synth amid clear and prominent vocals, and consistently returns to: “we all deserve to be beautiful.” The guest, WILLOW’s siege of the bridge, demonstrates a delicacy in vocal stylings and delivery.
“All humans have inherent beauty. If they could see it and love those parts of themselves, the world would be a different and more generous place. The capitalistic waterfall of judgment-levied advertising that attempts to rule our lives results in people being brutally attacked as their internal dialogue of insecurities is captured and multiplied by AI. Fuck the silent psychological weaponization of AI. We all deserve to be beautiful,” says Arc Iris’ Josie Adams, who came up with the lyrics.
Arc Iris stepped on the scene and offered their initial self-titled debut in 2014, before following up in two-year cycles with Moon Saloon, Foggy Lullaby, and Icon of Ego. In 2023, they turned in We Found Home, their first set of music to arrive after relocating to Los Angeles from Providence, R.I.
In the band’s press release, they set up their latest album as: “Set in a dystopian 2080, iTMRW tells the love story of Robert and his android partner Jenny, unfolding in a world where technology serves as both poison and cure for human alienation. Advertisements come in the form of ‘pop-up thoughts’ cities float on trash islands, female forms are bought and discarded, and aristocrats spiral in debauchery.”
Providing further detail, the press release continues, “At the heart of it all is iTMRW, the omnipresent mega-corporation producing and selling everything humankind consumes. Despite the chaos, the human spirit persists in its quest for love.”
