At the outset of a busy year, LCD Soundsystem have announced a spring tour through the South. From March 8 to May 4, the pioneering electronica octet helmed by James Murphy will play 10 shows at five venues, further amplifying anticipation for a widely-speculated first studio album since 2017’s American Dream. The band will be joined by openers Nation of Language in San Diego and Gustaf in Dallas, New Orleans and Atlanta.
LCD Soundsystem will launch their upcoming tour with a previously announced headlining set at the long-running nonprofit M3F Festival, set for Phoenix’s Steele Indian School Park on March 7. The band will move on to San Diego’s Gallagher Square at Petco Park on March 8, then follow their sole West Coast show with a month off.
The ensemble will return on April 22 to commence a three-night residency at Emo’s in Austin, Texas before moving on to a double-header at Dallas’ The Factory in Deep Ellum on April 26 and 27. After breezing through The Big Easy with two nights at New Orleans’ historic Saenger Theatre on April 30 and May 1, the band will conclude their spring tour with a pair of shows at Atlanta’s Coca-Cola Roxy on May 3 and 4. They’ll return to the stage in the summer for a high-profile headline set at Primavera Sound Barcelona on June 7.
In October, LCD Soundsystem heralded a new chapter with the premiere of “X-Ray Eyes” on NTS Radio, a techy, minimal production with a proto-Detroit backbeat that arrived as its first single since the full-throttle dance-punk of 2022’s “New Body Rhumba.” Shortly after, Primavera Sound mistakenly detailed that LCD’s set would present a long-awaited new album, encouraging an optimistic explanatory statement from Murphy. “It’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album,” the frontman said of the new song and circulating rumors. “Don’t ask me when that is, because we’re still working on it. But it feels very good to be putting out new music.”
Tickets will be available via an artist presale on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. local time; fans can register to secure their access at lcdsoundsystem.com. General on-sale will follow next Friday, Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. local time.
