One year since the release of his album, This Is A Photograph, which Relix called “an exploration of what it means to let go and how hard that concept truly is,” Kevin Morby announced a continuation and companion piece to the album titled More Photographs (A Continuum) will release on May 26 via Dead Oceans. In addition to the announcement of the follow-up album Morby released two songs, “This Is A Photograph II” and “Five Easy Pieces Revisited.”

On This Is A Photograph, Morby explores mortality, time and life through a collection of photographs, and More Photographs (A Continuum) furthers his search in the nooks and vantage points in captured moments. “If This Is A Photograph is a house that you have been living inside of, then More Photographs is, perhaps, the same home just experienced differently,” shared Morby in a press release. “As if you, its inhabitant, have taken a tab of something psychedelic and now, suddenly, you’ve replaced your eyeglasses with kaleidoscope.”

He continued to say, “Everything you once thought was familiar suddenly appears differently, shifting shapes, color and sonic landscapes.” The aforementioned “Five Easy Pieces Revisited” once again captures the same moment from (Jack Nicholson) Bobby Dupea’s point of view as from the iconic 1970 film of the samename, while “This Is A Photograph II” takes a similar but different path by revisiting its predecessor from a different angle.

“With every collection of songs I feel I have to cast them out of me before moving onto the next project, and here I knew that what I had begun with This Is A Photograph was not finished. Releasing this collection is me tying a bow on that time and place in my creative life,” concluded Morby.

More Photographs (A Continuum) is comprised of nine songs – three reworked songs and six brand new songs – both a prequel and a sequel in nature and form. Notably, the project’s cover art was shot by acclaimed Memphis photographer Tommy Kha.
