Live Oak, FL’s Hulaween Music Festival is in full swing and, yesterday, My Morning Jacket returned to headline the day’s festivities. Nodding to the event’s famously collaborative nature, the Kentucky-bred band invited out fellow festival performer Karina Rykman to join in on a stretch of songs near the end of their set. The bassist, who has sat in with MMJ seven other times since 2024, emerged for the Evil Urges jam “Touch Me I'm Going to Scream Pt. 2” and then remained on stage as the outfit moved on to the Grateful Dead’s “Franklin’s Tower,” Radiohead’s “The National Anthem” and the It Still Moves classic “Mahgeetah.” Notably, Rykman recently flew to San Francisco to join My Morning Jacket on a pairing of “Franklin's Tower” and “The National Anthem” during their recent run at San Francisco’s The Fillmore in the midst of her own headlining run supporting her sophomore LP, Late Checkout.

While at Hulaween, My Morning Jacket also showcased some of the covers they have recently revived or leaned into, including Marvin Gaye’s “Baby Don’t You Do It,” Neil Young’s “Like a Hurricane” and Sly & the Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).”

My Morning are off the road until their One Big Holiday event in Riviera Maya, Mexico, kicks off on January 14 while Rykamn will appear at Charleston, SC’s Pour House this evening. Hulaween continues today with a headlining spot by Pretty Lights and special collaborative performance by The String Cheese Incident and Warren Haynes. Gesse, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, SCI and Taper’s Choice will perform at the event tomorrow.
