Last night, Brandi Carlile appeared on Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show. During the broadcast, the musician revealed that Joni Mitchell has signed on to join her at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash., on June 9-10, 2023. The impending shows are a part of the Echoes Through the Canyon concert series.

News of the early-summer performances comes after a surprise appearance by Mitchell at Newport Folk Festival over the summer. The emergence by the legendary folk musician represented the first time she had performed on stage in over 20 years and doubled as a return to the favored East Coast music festival, ending a 53-year lapse. 

As Billboard first reported, Mitchell, told Carlile, “I want to play again,” following the excitement felt on stage at Newport Folk Festival. Together, they settled on the picturesque Gorge Amphitheatre as their choice location for their next on stage stand, due to its sprawling capacity and the surrounding natural beauty experienced during past iterations of Echoes Through the Canyon.

Moreover, exact details have not been formally released. However, according to Carlile, the event is slated to begin on June 9. The highly anticipated appearance by Mitchell will occur during the event’s second night, which lands on June 10.
