Join Me in LA: The Songs of Warren Zevon to Feature Live Performances by Jackson Browne, Shooter Jennings, Marshall Crenshaw and More
Fans of the late Warren Zevon will have a unique opportunity to celebrate the musician’s catalog on October 24 at Los Angeles’ United Theater, when Jackson Browne, Shooter Jennings, Marshall Crenshaw, and Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn take part in “Join Me in LA: The Songs of Warren Zevon.” Wild Honey Foundation produces the show and will raise funds to benefit autism research and other noble causes.
Zevon and Browne’s career overlap extends back to the ‘70s, when the “Running on Empty” singer assisted in securing Zevon his first record deal with Asylum Records, and ultimately produced his output, including 1976’s self-titled collection and the fan favorite, 1978’s Excitable Boy, which featured timeless classics, “Werewolves of London,” “Lawyers, Gun and Money,” and more.
Also on the docket to pay homage are fellow Zevon collaborators, his co-writer and producer, Jorge Calderon, and beloved session players, Leland Sklar and Bob Glaub. Other participants in the autumn gathering include Birds and the Bees’ Inara George, Eleni Mandell, Susan Cowsill, and Phil Cody.
The folks behind the tribute night have a history of crafting specialty lineups that speak to the spirit of the honoree. Past events have focused on the songs of The Beatles, The Band, Buffalo Springfield, Big Star, Lovin’ Spoonful, The Beach Boys, and more enduring classics.
Notably, “Join Me in LA: The Songs of Warren Zevon” will take place two weeks before the late musician’s posthumous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The official ceremony will stream on Peacock on November 8.
