On September 4, Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds will return to the road for 29 dates. This cross continental tour will eventually conclude on October 30 at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. These will be the band’s first shows since two nights at Red Rocks on September 16 and 17, 2025.
The Mutiny For The Masses tour will feature the material from the group’s latest album which came out this past spring. Sturgill Simpson has said of the material on Mutiny For The Masses: “Last year, we did two complete laps around the U.S. and a tour of western Europe. Between gigs this past September, we went into a brand new gorgeous studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Inspired heavily from endless hours on the bus, watching old clips of the great fusion funk band Stuff and revisiting off-the-beaten track concept records like Marvin Gaye‘s ‘In Our Lifetime,’ where, in what looks like the end of the world, the artist’s response is ‘Let’s dance and make love.’ We decided to make an album centered firmly on groove. We started every day from scratch with a basic groove. I wrote the songs and lyrics in the moment on the spot, and everyone established their individual parts servicing the songs and not the individual ego.”
nugs has just announced that it will stream the music from the tour. Audio from all the shows will appear on the platform. In addition, nugs will offer four exclusive livestreams, starting on September 15 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, followed by September 23 at the Ball Arena in Denver, CO, October 2 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN and October 30 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY.
In addition, nugs is also launching a Mutiny For The Masses Flyaway Sweepstakes, giving one fan and a guest the chance to experience Johnny Blue Skies & The Dark Clouds live in Nashville. The Grand Prize winner will receive two tickets to the October 2 performance at Bridgestone Arena, including round-trip airfare, a two-night hotel stay, two concert tickets, two event posters, two annual nugs subscriptions, and nugs merch packs featuring a T-shirt, hat, clear sling bag, and koozie. Ten First Prize winners will each receive an official Mutiny For The Masses tour poster. The sweepstakes opens alongside today's announcement and runs through September 7, with winners announced on September 10.
