Theatrical disruptor, Abramorama, has received the film rights to the RadicalMedia and Oh Boy Pictures’ production, You Got Gold – A Celebration of John Prine. The impending release will begin with a week-long engagement at the QUAD in New York on November 28, 2025, followed by events across the country.
You Got Gold – A Celebration of John Prine presents a one-of-a-kind tribute to the celebrated songwriter’s being and music. Shot at Nashville’s own Ryman Auditorium, the documentary film presents live performances, stories and interviews that serve to honor the “Hello in There” artist, and featuring the likes of the Grateful Dead’s Bobby Weir, Brandi Carlile, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler Childers, The War and Treaty, Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Bonnie Raitt, Dwight Yoakam, Kurt Vile, Lyle Lovett, Allison Russell & JT Nero, Valerie June, Nathaniel Rateliff, and more.
“John Prine was one of America’s most beloved storytellers,” Richard Abramowitz, Founder and Karol Martesko-Fenster, CEO of Abramorama, says via press release. “And this film captures something truly special—the moment when a community came together to celebrate an irreplaceable voice. We’re honored to be bringing this superb concert film to audiences in the most meaningful place they can experience it – in theaters.”
You Got Gold began as a memorial concert series created by the late songwriter’s widow, Fiona Whelan Prine, following his passing, which resulted from COVID-19-related complications. The initial event, which occurred in Octover 2022, brought friends and family to the forefront to share in celebrating one of the greats.
“When John passed, we couldn’t mourn together in the way we and his community needed to,” says Fiona Whelan Prine. “This film documents that long-awaited moment when we finally came together at the Ryman—John’s favorite stage—to honor him with his songs, music, stories and love. I’m grateful to everyone who shared their talent and their hearts to celebrate John’s legacy, and I’m thrilled that audiences everywhere will now have the chance to experience this special night.”
The film premiered last month, on October 9, during the Nashville Film Festival to a sold-out crowd.
