At long last, 20th Century Studios has shared the first official trailer from Deliver Me From Nowhere, the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic starring Jeremy Allen White. Set to arrive in theaters on October 24, the highly anticipated film’s first look exceeds high expectations with a taste of the drama, insight and stunning performances to come.

Deliver Me From Nowhere centers the production of Springsteen’s 1982 sixth studio album Nebraska, delving into the turmoil and revelation that charged his legendary record. To match that project’s deeply unguarded storytelling, the film situates the music in the throes of Springsteen’s personal and artistic growth; scenes of inner conflict mirror the intimacy of Nebraska’s striking four-track recordings. “Don’t need to be perfect,” White, as Springsteen, says in the trailer. “I want it to feel like I’m in the room by myself.”

Other highlights from the new preview include clips of co-star Jeremy Strong’s portrayal of Springsteen’s longtime manager Jon Landau. Behind black and white scenes from Bruce’s childhood and flashes of his reckoning with newfound fame, Strong says that the musician was raised in a bedroom with a hole in the floor, and on his new album, he’s “repairing that hole in himself. Once he’s done with that, he’s going to repair the entire world.” at the end of the trailer, White pours his heart into an exhilarating performance of “Born to Run,” which arrives as the first public sample of his singing in the film.

Deliver Me From Nowhere is written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass) and adapted from Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name. Beyond White and Strong, Jersey Boys breakout Johnny Cannizzaro will fill the role of Steven Van Zandt, and Odessa Young, Harrison Sloan Gilbertson and Paul Walter Hauser will round out the starring cast. Veteran producer Dave Cobb is helming the soundtrack, and Springsteen and Landau have both been closely involved with film.

In a Q&A for Las Vegas’ CinemaCon in April, White said the film was “an incredible challenge and a dream come true, and I feel really lucky we all had Bruce’s blessing on this film. It’s the story of a very particular moment in Bruce’s life when he was trying to reconcile the pressure of success and the ghosts of his past.”

“Jon was, of course, deeply invested in Bruce as an artist,” Strong added, “but he was also deeply invested in his friend’s happiness and well-being and his struggles with mental health. I see Jon as the Lewis to Bruce’s Clark.”

While his biopic approaches, Springsteen is keeping busy as ever on the road and with new releases; since April, he’s been rolling out Tracks II: The Lost Albums, a set of seven completed and previously unreleased records dating back as many as four records.
