Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has shared that he will participate in the musical narrative series, Words + Music, presented by Audible. A leading light on the alternative and indie music scene, Tweedy will introduce listeners to the people, occasions, and frames of mind that have inspired his vast music repertoire, beginning on March 3.
Tweedy’s installment of Words + Music will feature nine new full renditions of catalog favorites, including “Jesus Etc,” “She’s a Jar,” “Please Tell My Brother,” and more–presented alongside personally revelatory storytelling. In addition, the series supports the artist’s 2018 memoir, Let’s Go (so We Can Get Back), and his 2020 songwriting book, How to Write One Song.
“Jeff Tweedy is not only a magical songwriter whose music transports you to places like Impossible Germany, but it should be no surprise that he is also an exceptional storyteller who opens up about what’s behind some of his most notorious songs,” said Van Toffler, Gunpowder & Sky CEO. “It was an honor to produce this episode of Words & Music along with my colleagues Bill Flanagan and Alex Coletti.”
Tweedy joins an impressive list of past contributors to the Words + Music series, which is produced by Gunpowder & Sky, including Beck, Eddie Vedder, Pete Townshend, Billy Joe Armstrong, Sheryl Crow, Smokey Robinson, Alanis Morissette, Gary Clark Jr., and many other influential figures in the music industry.
