Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have tacked on eight new locations to their forthcoming 2023 tour. The band shared that their expanded trek will pick up a fresh set of dates on August 11 at Rabbit Rabbit in Asheville, N.C. In addition to tour news, the group shared the latest single, “Cast Iron Skillet,” off their impending LP, Weathervanes.
Following the aforementioned stop in The Old North State, Isbell and company will continue their run with previously announced concert appearances, leading up to another batch of newly dropped dates, which pick back up on Sept. 8 in Iowa City, Iowa. The next night, the band will perform at Grand Rapids Riverfest in Grand Rapids, Mich., prior to their follow-up on Sept. 10 in Moorhead, Minn.
In continuation of their late-summer jaunt, Isbell and the 400 Unit will show up at The Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, Wis, on Sept. 12, where they’ll welcome accompaniment from the group, Wednesday. Next, the ensemble will hop down to Louisiana, playing two shows. Then, their final new concert date will occur on Sept. 16, at Radians Amphitheatre in Memphis, Tenn.
Paired with news of added U.S. concert appearances is the band’s latest single off their eighth studio LP, Weathervanes, due June 9 via Southeastern Records/Thirty Tigers. “Cast Iron Skillet” is a masterful tune featuring the frontman’s wife, Amanda Shires on the fiddle, and 400 Unit member Derry DeBorja on the accordion. The previously mentioned instrumentation pairs perfectly with Isbell’s emotive lyrics.
