On the heels of his Crosby Collective debut at San Francisco’s Fillmore, virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby has announced the launch of another musical avenue for his creative energy, entitled Spirit Guide, a duo project with John Morgan Kimock, consisting of piano and drum arrangements.

In tandem with the announcement, a video shared by Crosby, he also announced the group’s first live show and subsequent concert debut on Thursday, March 6, 2025, featuring guest bassist and founding member of Widespread Panic, Dave Schools.

Spirit Guide results from a conversation between Crosby and his longtime friend and maestro, Jackson Browne. While the pair walked through the New Zealand Airport, Brown turned to Crosby and asked, “Have you ever heard of Benji Hughes?” The question led Crosby to download Hughes’ studio debut, A Love Extreme, which caused a swift shift in course and newly discovered inspiration.

Hughes and his record inspired Crosby and Kimock, who have developed their stylings as an instrumental interplay of drums and piano. Their massive webs of experience inform their style and techniques, which will be accentuated by Schools in an expanded trio format this spring.

Tickets are on sale now.
