Iconic Blues Venue Antone’s to Celebrate 50 Years with Austin City Limits Special

For 50 years, Antone’s has championed the best of American roots music and offered a platform for the pioneering artists of Austin, Texas. The Live Music Capitol of the World, and the broader world of live music, wouldn’t be the same without the indelible mark left by the historic club and its programming. Now, as the venue celebrates its golden anniversary, its legacy will be broadcast across the country with a special event on Austin City Limits.

Taping on April 28 in Austin, the Antone’s spot on the acclaimed long-running PBS live music program will highlight the venue’s past, present and future. While documenting the blues legends that once found homes at the nightclub–including Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and B.B. King–the hour-long episode on what NPR termed “the birthplace of a blues revival” will also chronicle some of its later success stories, like Stevie Ray Vaughan and current owner Gary Clark Jr.

The Austin City Limits special is just one highlight in a year-long 50th anniversary celebration. Learn more about the venue and its 2025 plans at antonesnightclub.com.
