Grateful Shred is headed East this spring. Los Angeles’ own Grateful Dead cover band will push across the country to pursue a month-long run, beginning April 12 with an already-announced festival appearance at Sunshine Get Down Festival in Brooksville, Fla., and Sunshine State follow-up at Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, Fla., on April 13.

Before the arrival of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 24-May 4, 2025, Shred will perform at the Crescent City’s Toulouse Theatre on April 15, giving early arrivals for the beloved festival a chance to start the party early with high-caliper offers of Dead originals and traditional covers, ranging from fan favorites to deep cuts, that each player a stand to flex their familiarity with the songbook and independent prowess.

Remaining in the country’s southern region, the band will take part in an evening at the Saturn in Birmingham, Ala., on April 16, followed by a night at Barrelhouse Ballroom in Chattanooga, Tenn. Next, the group, comprised of Austine Beede, Dan Horne, Alex Koford, Zeph Ohora, Adam MacDougall, Austin McCutchen, and John Lee Shannon, will put on a three-night Shred 420 event at Skinny Dennis’ Nashville location from April 18-20, to mark the high holiday that celebrates mother nature’s sticky green bud and its desired effect.

The band will break from the road briefly, allowing for other touring responsibilities, such as Terrapin Family Band/ backbeat Koford’s slot with Grahame Lesh, Jason Crosby, and Ross James at Garcia’s, select Brooklyn Bowl locations and the newly opened Bearsville Theatre. Shred will resume their East Coast run on April 29 at Portland House of Music in Maine.

Shred will remain in the Northeast for gigs at Boston’s Sinclair (April 30) and Fairfield, Conn.’s The Warehouse before taking their live show just outside the City of Brotherly Love for an evening at the Ardmore Music Hall. They will dip down to Baltimore, performing on May 3, before the final arrival of concerts brings the crew back to the South.

On May 4, Grateful Shred will perform at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, N.C., followed by a gig at the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, N.C. (May 6) and the Bijou Theatre in Knoxville, Tenn. (May 7). Back in North Carolina, the band will play at The Asheville Music Hall (May 8) and a night at Atlanta’s Terminal West before a two-night tour closer on May 10-11 at Charleston, N.C.’s Pour House.
