Grace Potter will make her Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday, September 15. Potter will perform songs from her new album, Trespasser, which was released on August 21 via Thirty Tigers. Potter is one of several musicians who will play the Opry for the first time in the coming weeks, including Nicole Atkins (9/12), Little Feat (9/8) and Stella Lefty (9/2).
Potter spent the past few days on the road as an opening act for Zac Brown Band. On Thursday at Queens, NY’s Forest Hills Stadium, Potter emerged during the group’s set for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released,” which was played as a tribute to Dolly Parton. Brown also honored Parton by performing “Butterly,” a song they recorded together and released last year on the Love & Fear album. (Zac Brown Band dusted off the latter number for the first time this summer after learning about Parton’s passing.)
Then, Friday night at Philadelphia’s TD Pavilion at Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Potter emerged once again during Zac Brown Band’s opening set for her own “The Lion The Beast The Beat,” a tune she released with the Nocturnals in 2012, marking the first time the country-crossover band has played the number during their show. In addition, Philadelphia-bred musician Amos Lee, who has supported Zac Brown Band on the road before, made a surprise appearance on his own “Supply and Demand,” “I Shall Be Released” and Paul Overstreet’s “Forever and Ever, Amen.”
Potter will perform next at Nantucket, MA’s The Muse on September 11 while Zac Brown Band take the stage at Kansas City, MO’s T-Mobile Center with special guests Brother Osborne on September 10.
