Gov’t Mule and Ziggy Marley Announce the Dreaming The Same Dream Tour

Gov’t Mule and Ziggy Marley will hit the road together for the Dreaming The Same Dream Tour this fall. The 16-date co-headlining outing will kick off September 23 at New York’s The Rooftop at Pier 17 and then make its way south to Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, N.C. The tour will then stop in six cities in Florida (Key West, Hollywood, St. Augustine, Clearwater, Ft. Myers and Tallahassee), Atlanta and many other markets, before climaxing with a jaunt across The Lone Star State that includes appearances in Sugar Land, San Antonio, Austin and Dallas. Yola will support throughout the Dreaming The Same Dream Tour with a DJ set each night.

Haynes and Marley co-wrote “Dreaming the Same Dream,” a featured track on the Warren Haynes Band’s 2012 album, Live at the Moody Theater. $2 per ticket for the Dreaming The Same Dream Tour will be donated to Food For The Poor Jamaica to provide relief and humanitarian efforts in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the most destructive storm in Jamaica’s history. Food For The Poor directly supports ongoing shelter needs, food, clean water access and medical care as well the long-term rebuilding of communities in Jamaica.

“I’m really looking forward to the tour with Ziggy Marley,” Haynes said in a statement. “We’ve known each other a long time and have shared the stage a few times but never done a tour together. There’s definitely an overlap between the two audiences, but I think a lot of Mule fans will be hearing Ziggy for the first time and a lot of Ziggy fans will be hearing Mule for the first time, which is great.”

Marley added in the same statement, “It’s gonna be a great jam session being on tour with Warren and the crew. I’m looking forward to the vibes.”

“I was honored when Gov’t Mule and Ziggy Marley asked me to come on tour as their DJ/MC with the mostest,” YOLA explained in her statement. “A lot of people don’t know this but the only reason I’m in America today and was able to get signed here was because of dance music. My hometown of Bristol in the UK has a legacy of DJs specifically coming from our city. I cut my teeth there in the jazz, rock then dance scenes and met DJs and dance acts that I’d eventually tour and collaborate with. Getting to represent this part of my life in DJ form on tour with Mule and Ziggy is a full circle moment that I don’t think I’d have gotten if I didn’t tell my story and insist on being a fluid of genre and artistically whole woman.”

Gov’t Mule will kick off their summer tour at Deerfield, Mass.’s Summer Stage at Tree House on July 22 while Marley, who released his 9th album Brightside earlier this month, will appear next at Tucson, Ariz.’s Fox Tucson Theatre on June 19.
