Goose Unveil Schedule for Viva El Gonzo Getaway: The War on Drugs, Eggy, Dawes, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, LA LOM and More

Last summer, Goose made waves with a highly publicized cryptic announcement: “Buy the ticket, take the ride.” These words, written by Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, were confirmed months later to be the mantra of Viva El Gonzo, the indie groove stars’ inaugural destination event, set to stage from May 8-10 in San José del Cabo, Mexico. Today, as anticipation continues to mount for the landmark festival premiere, Goose have detailed the celebration to come with the weekend’s official schedule.

Viva El Gonzo is distinguished from other popular jam getaways by its scale and customizable program. The festival is centered around three nights of performances, with 6 headline sets from Goose (from 9:15 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. each day) and an eclectic mix of 13 other high-profile acts. Earlier on the main stage, attendees will be treated to sets from Dogs in a Pile and Dawes on Thursday, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Dawes and The War on Drugs on Friday and Eggy, Andy Frasco & The U.N. and LA LOM on Saturday.

On the Round Rocks side stage, fans will encounter intimate performances from Mihali, Everything Here Is Alive, LA LOM and Shamans on Thursday and Friday, while Saturday will bring newly unveiled shows from the El Ganzo Collective–presumably an all-star band pieced together from the weekend’s lineup–and an early acoustic set from Goose.

The earliest and latest shows will be set at Crania, a beachside club decked out in neon-drenched post-apocalyptic theming. This special themed space will host Sierra Hull, Frasco, Rivka Ruth, Cordovas and LP Giobbi in the early afternoon; Giobbi will return with her signature Dead House set in the late-night slot, as will Eggy, Dogs in a Pile, Tycho, Pigeons and DJ Marb Menthols.

Offstage, attendees will have their pick of 12 residences, from boutique stays to luxurious resorts, each offering their own range of amenities and adventures with tickets in a single package. All hotels are within five miles of the main festival grounds at Cabo’s El Ganzo Oasis, the lushly vegetated and scenic tropical preserve surrounded by the city’s rich cultural heritage. The venue will host multiple wellness-oriented events and activities and a vibrant array of craft and culinary vendors, just steps from the Sea of Cortez.
