Goose Unveil “Bingo Live” Theme for Goosemas XI
Three months out from its highly-anticipated annual Goosemas celebration, Goose’s wheels are turning already. Today, the celebrated indie groove outfit unveils the theme for its 2024 holiday festivities, presenting “Bingo Live” to shake up its dynamic setlists even more. To formally set its gamified course–which arrives as a callback to its inventive 2020 virtual tour–the band has shared (yet another) cryptic announcement video, this time leaving fans asking: “Why 1975?”
For their 11th annual holiday event, Goose will fly to South Carolina and assume the spotlight at North Charleston Coliseum on Dec. 13 and 14. After announcing the tradition’s return in June, the band has finally elaborated on its intentions, sharing that the setlists from these two shows will be determined in real-time as an onstage host draws balls labeled with entries from its pack discography from a classic bingo cage roller.
This format recalls the band’s 2020 Bingo Tour, which brought the excitement of Goose’s unique live act into fans’ homes to help the community thrive through the COVID lockdown. Like those four unforgettable livestreamed shows, virtual viewers for this year’s event will be able to play along to the program with bingo cards of their own.
“Bingo Tour gave us a way to get together during a crazy time,” recalls keyboardist and guitarist Peter Anspach. “We found new ways to be creative and connect with our fans despite being miles apart. Bringing ‘Bingo Live’ to Goosemas feels like the perfect way to celebrate that journey and finally perform some of the wild bingo antics live with an audience.”
“Bingo Tour 2020 was such a special time for us,” frontman Rick Mitarotonda adds. “We’re stoked to once again go with the balls.”
The band’s 2024 “Bingo Live” theme follows a space theme for Goosemas X and a holiday wish theme for Goosemas IX, which was similarly randomized as the band assembled its set from red and green ornaments on which fans wrote the songs they’d like to hear. The rapidly rising jam quintet unveiled its plans today with a short video, which shows someone stumbling on a mysterious bingo roller while searching the attic for holiday decorations.
Beyond the obvious, the band has given its audience a mystery to consider: a small 2024 on the end slate that ticks back to 1975. As to whether fans should expect Rhinestone Cowboy, Young Americans, Mothership Connection, Wish You Were Here, Katy Lied, A Night at the Opera, Blues for Allah, Physical Graffiti, Blood On The Tracks, That’s The Way Of The World, Zuma, Born to Run, all this and more or none of the above–we’ll have to wait and see.
