On Saturday, June 28, Goose will perform the biggest headlining gig of their careers at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden. Ahead of the momentous sold-out occasion for the Connection-bred foursome, they performed an intimate, invite-only concert at the 650-capacity Racket NYC, flexing material off their latest full-length album, Everything Must Go, by performing one long set that clocked in at two hours.

Monday night’s concert in the Big Apple was a Marquee Member event hosted by local Fordham University radio station WFUV, which extended an invitation to top-tier supporters and accounted for the slant to the audience, which segued older than their regulatory attendee. Rather than sell tickets, they were administered via a lottery, allowing a restricted number of lucky fans access to the event.

Coming off their time at Mountain Jam Festival, where they performed two sets and were joined by special guest Mikaela Davis, Rick Mitarotonda (guitar/vocals), Peter Anspach (guitar/keys/vocals), Trevor Weekz (bass) and Cotter Ellis (drums), unlocked the concert’s initial access point on the funk-tinged take on “Animals.” The group continued with treatments of Everything Must Go tracks, on a jam-focused, “Hot Love & The Lazy Poet,” before referring back to their Dripfield feature, “Hungersite.”

The night’s most extensive jam was “Dustin Hoffman,” which received a seismic display of key work before dropping into “Lead Up.” “Your Direction” brought out the synths before the psychedelic takeover of “Atlas Dogs.” The set slowed with “Iquana Song,” before an accent into the LP title track. Ultimately, before closing the night after a take on “Thatch,” which assumed the concert’s encore slot, they closed the main frame with “Give It Time.”

Before leaving the stage, Anspach told their audience, “See you at the Garden.” Before the band’s Saturday stand at Madison Square Garden, they will take their Everything Must Go Tour to the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, N.H. Tickets remain on sale. For more information, visit www.goosetheband.com/tour.
