After a month away following their celebrated New Year’s Eve Formal Affair, Goose will make their highly-anticipated return to the stage this week to kick off their 2025 touring. Today, the rapidly rising jam quartet has shared that they will be down a member for the time being, as Jeff Arevalo has stepped back from the stage for personal reasons.

“After much reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from current touring to focus on my mental health and personal issues,” Arevalo explained in a note posted to his social channels and reposted by the band. “As much as I love making music and being on stage, I’ve come to realize that in order to continue giving my best to loved ones, to the band and to all of you, I need to take this time to reset, heal and prioritize my well-being. I truly appreciate your understanding and support.”

Arevalo joined the band in 2020, and also performs as the upright bassist for Orebolo, the acoustic Goose offshoot featuring Peter Anspach and Rick Mitarotonda (the trio’s name originates in a mispronunciation of his own). The multi-instrumentalist’s utility is regularly demonstrated in seat-changes onstage, and the band has not yet confirmed how long he will be absent from performances, nor if another musician will temporarily fill his position.

“Everyone’s well-being is the most important thing right now. We are grateful for the community’s understanding as Jeff takes time for himself. We appreciate the support and ask that you respect his privacy,” bandmates Mitarotonda, Anspach, Trevor Weekz, and Cotter Ellis shared in a statement to Goose’s socials.

Arevalo is featured throughout Everything Must Go, Goose’s fourth full-length studio album, due to release on April 25. Read more about the recently unveiled project here, and find tickets for Goose’s return to the road at goosetheband.com/tour.
