On June 19, Goose brought their ongoing Everything Must Go Summer Tour to Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Cleveland. Last night’s concert marked the first in two locationally specific appearances. Thursday’s ascent was embellished by a series of specialty moments that frayed from the expected to make the midweek concert one to remember for the Midwest audience. From Coach’s early show arrival to amusing teases cast by the band and a concert ending return to “Doobie Song,” the band’s capacity accentuated the night.
Sergio Mendes’ original, “Mas Que Nada,” emerged as the starting point for Goose’s Thursday night stand in Cleveland, stretching and infusing the borrowed composition with their unique brand of jam before positioning their own “Honeybee” in the night’s second slot. During the Dripfield feature, the band welcomed Coach up to reprise his role on rainstick. The band provided treatments [newer number] “Torero,” before referencing the group’s Vasudo side project on “Hot Love & The Lazy Poet.”
Goose pulled out “Mr. Action” before combining “The Labrynth” with “Hot Tea.” The latter included a tease of Michael Jackson’s “Workin’ Day and Night” as a frill of excitement heading into set break. The concert’s second half segued “Madhuvan,” “Atlas Dogs,” and “Into the Myst,” with the final piece of the three-part delivery left unfinished, yet containing an Anspach-led tease of the Magic School Bus Theme. The band offered one final movement before turning in their second set, with fan favorite “Hungersite.”
The group returned for the night’s encore. They emerged with the first “Doobie Song” since September 4, 2024, ending a 71-show lapse in plays, before effectively ending the concert after “Madhuvan.”
