Golden Road Festival Outlines 2025 Lineup: Taj Mahal Quintet, Don Was and the Pan Detroit Ensemble, Super Sonic Shorties and More

From October 17-20, the Golden Road Festival will provide live musical entertainment at a new location, Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge resort in Buford, Ga. The impending occasion represents a coastal shift, moving from its 2024 California home to the new Peach State venue this calendar year. 

Holding the top slot on the occasion’s art lineup is Grammy Award winner and bandleader, Taj Mahal, helming his quintet. The prolific blues veteran leads a list that also includes Don Was and the Pan Detroit Ensemble, featuring musical accompaniment from Jeff Canady, Vincent Chandler, Steffanie Christi’an, John Douglas, Watne Gerard, Mahindi Masai, Dave McMurray and Luis Resto. 

Collaboration takes a central role, as elicited in the lineup and conveyed via the swelled Super Sonic Shorties placement. The lineup brings female-dominated musical power from Amy Bellamy, Shura Elias, Nikki Glaspie, Arnetta Johnson, Kanika Moore, Katty Rodriguez, Angie Swan, Tonya Sweets, and Briana Washington. The lineup expands with ALO’s Zach Gil, Steve Adams, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, and Erza Lipps’s representation. 

Zādell Music, comprised of Zoe and Dave Ellis, Glaspie, Aron Magner, Quinn Sullivan, Jill Simmons, Jason Fraticelli, Lamar Williams Jr., and special guests, will also perform during the October event. In addition, Prince/ Bowie will bring Eric Gould, Cal Keoe, Josh Schwartz, Cotter Ellis, Jason Hann, Steve Learson, Brittany Beckett, and repeat players in the aforementioned lineups, including Shira Elias, Arnetta Johnson and Dave Ellis. 

Also accounted for on the festival bill are Jimi’s Dead, Eric Krasno, Ross James, Glaspie, Magner and Hann. Magner/Cloudchord production, Deadtronica. David Gans also received a slot, while Davr Ellis and Jill Simmons have assumed the roles of Artists at Large.
