Glass Is Dead at the Chambers Project on Saturday
This Saturday, January 31, The Chambers Project in Grass Valley, Calif. will host the latest in an ongoing series of ambitious and exhilarating artistic exhibitions. Glass Is Dead will present the work of fifteen borosilicate glass pipe artists who were inspired by the music and culture of the Grateful Dead. Celebrated glass artist Banjo is serving as curator for this special gathering, which is presented by the Chambers Project in conjunction with the Psychedelic Arts and Culture Trust (PACT).
Glass is Dead: A Grateful Pipe Exhibition, which will kick off at 5:00 PM and extend until 11:30, features a range of offerings and experiences. The evening will begin with a freewheeling panel discussion that is expected to be both entertaining and enlightening. Then at 7:30, Pete Sawyer & The Left Hand Monkey Wrench Gang will take the stage for a spirited exploration of the Grateful Dead catalog. The program also will incorporate live glass blowing and live painting by the Furtherrr Collective. The notable roster of participating artists includes: Bob Snodgrass, Ginny Snodgrass-Gietl, Hugh Salkind, Jerry Kelly, Jonathan Gietl, Mike Gong, ESP, Rose Roads, Jenkins, Justin Carter, WJC, Niko Cray, Dan Hoffman, Karma and Lilbear. Tickets for this one-off happening are now on sale.
Last month, 60 Years of the Grateful Dead, which as been described as “the most comprehensive exhibition of original Grateful Dead artwork ever assembled,” opened at The Chambers Project.
