The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced the finalists for its class of 2021. Foo Fighters, Carole King, Rage Against the Machine and Fela Kuti are among the nominees.

In addition to the above, Tina Turner, JAY-Z, Kate Bush, Mary J. Blige, Devo, LL Cool J, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Chaka Khan, New York Dolls, Todd Rundgren and Dionne Warwick are also finalists to be inducted into the Hall.

Among the nominees this year, there are several who are already represented in the Rock Hall. Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters was inducted as a member of Nirvana; meanwhile, Carole King previously entered the Hall as a songwriter. Finally, Tina Turner was inducted alongside Ike Turner in 1991.

On the other hand, JAY-Z, Iron Maiden, The Go-Go’s, Fela Kuti and Dionne Warwick for the very first time, as is King (as a performer, rather than a songwriter). In order to be eligible for nomination, an artist or band must have released their first record 25 years (or more) before the year they are nominated.

Last year’s Rock Hall inductees were Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G. and T. Rex.

Fan voting for the inductees is now open. In the past, the artist or band with the most fan votes was inducted into the Rock Hall. However, last year, Dave Matthews Band became the first band to receive the most fan votes and not be inducted since the fan ballot was introduced.
