First Look at The Beatles Casting for Sam Mendes’ Four-Part Cinematic Adaptation

Sam Mendes’ “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event” has officially released the first look at the band’s casting for the highly anticipated multi-part theatrical pursuit. As part of a marketing effort to build anticipation for the project, a first look at Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr has been shared.

Rather than sharing images on social media, promotional postcards featuring the aforementioned actors as band members were hidden across the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts campus. Students were encouraged to participate in the search, which revealed the Beatles members: McCartney in the group’s signature mod button-up, Lennon in denim and round specs, a psychedelic Starr fit in clashing patterns, and a modestly dressed Harrison.

Fan reaction online indicated satisfaction with Lennon’s casting, particularly the attention to detail and inclusion of three facial moles in a vertical line at the center of his forehead. Conversely, Harrison’s casting has drawn backlash from fans, who are dissatisfied with the film’s portrayal of the best-looking Beatle.

While official images have not been unveiled of the Fab Four’s better halves, casting has confirmed that Saoirse Ronan will play Linda McCartney, while Anna Sawai will act as Yoko Ono, Aimee Lou Wood as Pattie Boyd, and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Maureen Starkey.

“I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Sam Mendes said in an initial statement that coincided with the film’s announcement.

The theatrical event will arrive in cinemas in April 2028.
