Eggy Deliver “12 Pounds of Pain” Irish Jig Style in Chattanooga

On March 17, Eggy took their Something in the Air Tour to The Barrelhouse Ballroom in Chattanooga, Tenn. The midweek appearance coincided with St. Patrick’s Day, which ultimately informed parts of their live performance, including “12 Pounds of Pain” played in the style of an Irish jig. Other high points from Tuesday’s gig included returns to previously shelved material, “Wireless” and “Shaper With A Blanket.”

Prior to the first bust or semblance of holiday flair, the ensemble established the start of the concert by performing “Smile.” Their initial batch of material also included renditions of “Burritos El Chavo 2” and “Reflections,” ahead of returning to “Wireless,” last delivered on June 24, 2025, and closing a 61-show gap in plays. Before concluding set one, the band tacked on “One More Dance.”

Resuming the show post-set break, Jake Brownstein, Dani Battat, Alex Bailey and Mike Goodman pressed into an unfishing “Sweat Equity,” which winked at impending plays via teases at the command of the lead guitarist/vocalist. The aforementioned number fused with “12 Pounds of Pain” Irish-style. Next, they picked up Allen Toussaint’s “Last Train,” before the final piece of the frame, “Zugzwang.”

The night’s encore provided one last bust out, this time, the return of “Shaper With A Blanket,” which was last performed on August 13, 2023. The latest delivery concluded a massive 250-show gap. Tuesday’s rendition also included teases of “Maybe” a la Brownstein.

After last night’s gig, Eggy will take their talents to The Basement East in Nashville. Tickets remain on sale.
