Decorated artist and guitar prodigy Derek Trucks is expanding his enterprises outside the music realm, introducing his new venture, Ass Pocket Whiskey (APW). In conjunction with the announcement, Trucks has outlined the offering, describing the product as a limited run of bourbons, exclusively offered in 200ml flaskes. The initial release, a Heritage Kentucky Straight Bourbon, will debut at the forthcoming Bourbon & Beyond gathering on Sept. 19-22 in Louisville, Ky. 

Ass Pocket Whiskey is the result of Trucks’ rejection of the collection over consumption approach, where folks are inclined to flaunt their bottles rather than enjoy its contents. To counter the trend, Trucks’ premium bourbons will be available in smaller, more accessible flask size to motivate folks to enjoy their drink without fear of so-called “ruining” a collectible bottle and promoting the idea that fans can “have their whiskey and drink it too,” as stated by Trucks via the press release. 

Folks attending Bourbon & Beyond will have the opportunity to experience Trucks’ APW for the first time. The artist will start festivities with an intimate performance at Louisville’s legendary Show Barn at Ashbourne Farms on Wed. Sept. 18, followed by a headlining set by Tedeschi Trucks Band on the main stage of Bourbon & Beyond on Friday, Sept. 20. Also included is a panel discussion for a deeper dive into the product, featuring industry experts Chris Blandford of Kroger and Carrie Van Winkle, Co-founder of Pappy & Company, and Trucks. 

Bourbon & Beyond attendees can purchase and sample APW at the dedicated Ass Pocket Whiskey Bar, with the option to have bottles shipped directly to their homes. Following the event, any remaining bottles will be made available via e-commerce exclusively at AssPocketWhiskey.com.
