Denver Comes Alive 2023 Announces Lineup: Yonder Mountain String Band, Kitchen Dwellers, Lettuce and More

Today, Denver Comes Alive announced it will return to Denver’s Mission Ballroom in 2023, this time as a two-day event on Jan. 13 and Jan. 14. The event, which is presented by Live For Live Music and AEG Rocky Mountains, marks the third Denver Comes Alive and organizers plan to bless the Mile High City with one night flush with bluegrass and Americana with a second evening of funk-fueled tomfoolery.

For the bluegrass and Americana evening, on Friday, Jan. 13, Denver Comes Alive will welcome Yonder Mountain String Band, the Kitchen Dwellers, and Maggie Rose. The twanging evening will also feature several artists-at-large including Jason Carter, Kyle Tuttle and Tyree Woods.

The following evening, on Saturday, Jan. 14, Denver Comes Alive will host Lettuce, sacred steel-super group The Word – comprised of Robert Randolph, John Medeski, Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson, and Ray Ray Holloman, The Main Squeeze and the backing ensemble Pulp Fiction which features Will Phillips, Adryon de León, Shira Elias, Parris Fleming, and Nick Gerlach.

“Denver Comes Alive is the perfect cross-section of music, collaboration, community, and philanthropy,” said festival and Live For Live Music founder Kunj Shah in a statement. “By expanding to two days this year—with one night focused on bluegrass and Americana and another on funk and soul—we hope to celebrate the sounds at the heart of the Denver live music scene and put a spotlight on the musicianship that makes it great.”

Both nights will feature special appearances by an all-female supergroup with WinterWonderWomen (Bridget Law of Elephant Revival, Lindsay Lou, Mimi Naja of Fruition, Mama Magnolia’s Megan Letts, Emma Rose of Big Richa), and Banshee Tree’s Michelle Pietrafitta) on Friday and Super Sonic Shorties on Saturday which is comprised of Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power), Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band), Katty Rodriguez (Beyoncé), Tonya Sweets (Klymaxx/Lizzo), Ella Feingold (Silk Sonic), Amy Bellamy (G. Love), and Erica Falls.

It’s also notable that both nights will be hosted by SiriusXM’s Ari Fink, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the vital 501(c)(3) non-profit Backline, which connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources.
