As of yesterday, Oct. 28, production has officially begun on Deliver Me From Nowhere, a forthcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic starring Jeremy Allen White. For a first look at what’s to come, the film has released the first image of The Bear’s star as The Boss. Have a look at the getup below.

Deliver Me From Nowhere centers on the personal turmoil and artistic revelation of Springsteen’s Nebraska era, as communicated in Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name. Beyond White’s casting as the lead, Jersey Boys breakout Johnny Cannizzaro will fill the role of Steven Van Zandt, and Odessa Young, Harrison Sloan Gilbertson and Paul Walter Hauser will round out the starring cast. Variety reported in May that Jeremy Strong was in talks for the role of Springsteen’s longtime manager Jon Landau, though no official casting for the crucial role has yet been released.

The film is written and directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Black Mass), who has centered production in Springsteen’s stomping grounds of the Garden State, with additional photography in New York and Los Angeles. “Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” Cooper offered in a statement to Variety. “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience. It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon [Landau] as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey.”

In a red carpet interview from the Emmys, White further elaborated on the role of The Boss and his manager in the film’s development. “Bruce has been really lovely and supportive and available–which has made this whole process, I think, just an extra joy, that we have his support. And Jon Landau, his manager’s support, who has a large role in the film as well. So I feel really lucky, and we’re getting there.”

Deliver Me From Nowhere is set to release on a yet undisclosed date in 2025. Stay tuned for more information, and check out Springsteen’s Road Diary documentary in the meantime, which released on Friday, Oct. 25.
