Brooklyn Comes Alive Announces 2022 Lineup: STS9, Lettuce, Medeski, Martin & Wood and More

Today, it was announced that Brooklyn Comes Alive, the one-day festival celebrating and unifying jazz, jam and funk, will return to The Brooklyn Mirage on Sept. 17. This year’s gathering will mark the sixth time the mini-out-door festival will bring unforgettable collaborations, never-before-seen surprises and unique one-off performances, inspired by New Orleans and its famed Jazz & Heritage Festival, to the beloved borough of New York City.

Brooklyn Comes Alive 2022 will feature livetronica legends STS9, the famed jazz-groove group Medeski, Martin & Wood, jam-funk sextet Lettuce, and the debut of Cool Cool Cool – a new project from the former members of Turkuaz including Craig Brodhead, Chris Brouwers, Michelangelo Carubba, Shira Elias, Sammi Garett, and Greg Sanderson. The Cool Cool Cool also includes Josh Schwartz, but he is not expected to be present, and instead, their first-ever live appearance will feature The Nth Power’s Nate Edgar on bass.

It’s also notable that the gathering will mark STS9’s first show in New York since 2019, when they last performed at The Brooklyn Mirage, and are expected to perform a late-night set; similarly, Medeski Martin & Wood have also not performed on their home turf since 2019 and are using the event as a vehicle to celebrate their 30th anniversary as a band, which took place last year. Not to be left out on the list of special reasons to celebrate, Lettuce will be making their debut at the event and at The Brooklyn Mirage and use the dual debut as an exciting way to celebrate the release of their latest LP, Unify.

“It is so rewarding to work with some of our favorite artists to deliver special performances, debut new projects, and create memorable experiences for fans and bands alike at Brooklyn Comes Alive,” shared festival director Gideon Plotnicki in a press release. “That we get to do this in one of the country’s best live music venues, in the best city in the world, is a dream come true. Brooklyn, we’re back, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you at the incredible and unique venue, The Brooklyn Mirage.”

The event is partnered with Backline, a national nonprofit organization that connects music industry professionals and their families with mental health and wellness resources—streamlining access to a network of trusted organizations and care providers who offer immediate access to safe and private mental health support, and will donate a portion of each ticket to their ongoing efforts.

All tickets, including VIP packages, will go on sale Friday, July 15 at 12 p.m. ET. Find tickets here.
