Bootsy Collins Announces Collaborative Compilation Album ‘Funk Not Flight,’ Shares Single Teaser

Today on his 71st birthday, multi-Grammy Award-winning funk icon Bootsy Collins has announced an impending collaborative compilation dubbed Funk Not Flight in association with Syncr and The Bootsy Collins Foundation. As a taste of what’s to come, Collins has delivered a 60-second teaser of the first single off the forthcoming album. Listen here.
According to a press release shared by the esteemed musician, the Funk Not Flight project will include contributions from emerging artists, rappers, poets, singers and instrumentalists that submitted their music to be featured on the new album alongside Collins and his celebrated cast of musical collaborators.
Lettuce, Buckethead, Zapp, Triggy, Syleena Johnson, Tommy Davidson, Hi-Tek, Deanna Brown, G7, Michael Dyson and Steve Lacy are amongst the artists to sign on and participate in the new project. Moreover, all money raised through the sale of the new music collection will go towards initiatives that require financial support in order to help turn the tide of violence and unrest in chosen communities. The official album release date has yet to be announced. However, more information about Collin’s latest project is forthcoming.
