Bob Wagner, LaMP and Three-Piece Meal are among the Vermont-rooted acts featured on Burlington Sounds, Vol. 1, a new vinyl compilation showcasing the city’s populous music scene. Bringing together 14 local artists spanning rock, bluegrass, soul, punk, psychedelia and jam, the set also spotlights All Night Boogie Band, Hammydown, Acqua Mossa, Good Gravy, Danny & the Parts, Remi Russin, Clive, Cady Ternity, Cricket Blue, Burly Girlies and Eustis, with additional contributions from voice actor Kris Brown.
The project was created by Burlington-based music enthusiast Taylor Friss through the independent label Champ Records, with a simple mission to “celebrate the city's musicians, introduce their music to new audiences and give back to the people who make Burlington's music scene possible.” 100% of profits from the project will go directly to the participating musicians.
Mastered for vinyl by Julia Rangel at Tank Recording Studio, Burlington Sounds, Vol. 1 will be released as a limited pressing of 1,000 individually numbered records. The album features original collage artwork by Amanda Crowley, incorporating colorful imagery inspired by Burlington and the surrounding Vermont landscape.
“Burlington has an incredible music scene, especially for a city its size,” Friss said in a statement. “Before starting this project, I knew the jam scene was top-notch, but I had no idea how much great music was happening across so many other genres.I've discovered some of my favorite new artists through this process, and I hope others will too. One thing this project has really opened my eyes to is just how much talent exists behind the music, too. It's not just the musicians. It's the producers, recording and mastering engineers, studios and visual artists who all help bring this music to life. Burlington has an incredible creative community, and I wanted this record to celebrate that as well.”
Pre-orders are available now, with records expected to ship in November 2026.
