Ben Folds Announces Livestream of Keys for Kids Benefit in North Carolina
Ben Folds has announced a special livestream event benefiting his recent charity initiative, Keys For Kids. The one-night affair will be broadcast live from Osceola Studios in Raleigh, N.C., on Monday, July 11, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
The forthcoming event will feature a musical performance by Folds, in addition to interviews with special guests, including North Carolina First Lady Kristin Cooper. In addition, the Keys For Kids Benefit Livestream will raise awareness for Keys for Kids, which aims to give school-age kids access to piano keyboards and music lessons for little or no cost.
Folds expressed the motive behind his charitable initiative. He stated, “I realize that most kids aren’t as lucky as I was to be exposed to a quality music education. That’s why I want to do what I can to help give all young people who have an interest in learning how to play the piano a chance to have the same opportunities I was afforded.”
According to the press release, Folds intends to expand his initiative to more nonprofits involved in music education outreach. “This first year will be crucial in helping us better understand both the need and how best to address it through this kind of public-private partnership,” shared Folds. “I realize that most kids aren’t as lucky as I was to be exposed to a quality music education. That’s why I want to do what I can to help give all young people who have an interest in learning how to play the piano a chance to have the same opportunities I was afforded.”
