Béla Fleck is sharing his commitments for the coming months. Beginning this week, he will take part in three shows performed with his wife and creative partner, Abigail Washburn, before the November arrival of Colorado Symphony concerts at Denver’s Boettcher Hall. Then, after welcoming the New Year, Fleck will head to India for a series of gigs with Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer featuring Rakesh Chaurasia.

The banjo pundit will start his musical obligations by signing on to participate in a trio of performances with Washburn. The first of which will occur on Oct. 17 at Appell Center for the Performing Arts in York, Pa., with a follow-up slated for the next night at  Zoellner Arts Center 

In Bethlehem, Pa. To round out the pair’s run, they will arrive at The Gordon Center in Owings Mills, Md., on Oct. 19. 

On the other side of his initial run of concerts, Fleck will deliver “Rhapsody in Blue” from his 2024 centennial tribute to “Rhapsody in Blue” from Fleck’s 2024 centennial tribute to George Gershwin alongside the Colorado Symphony on Nov. 16 and 17 at Denver’s Boettcher Hall. In the following days, he will deliver the Béla Fleck Residency at Montclair State College in Montclair, N.J., before going global for his next venture. 

Fleck’s final commitment will take him to India to perform with the unstoppable instrumental force consisting of tabla master Zakir Hussain, double bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer, and bansuri player Rakesh Chaurasia for three concerts: Bengaluru (Jan. 4), Hyderabad (Jan. 5), and New Delhi (Jan. 10). 

The aforementioned live shows arrived after Fleck released his final duo project with jazz expert and the banjoist’s mentor and musical hero, the late Chick Corera. Speaking to the project, Fleck offered in a press release, “He found the good in everything. I’m just so glad to be a part of this — glad I could be with him, and glad there’s more to share.”
